Could someone from Australia use the word 'date' in a sentence?

@Joe Nation,
Joe and I have a date in New York?

I love sticky date pudding?

He kicked him up the date
(I guess that's the one you were waiting for) Comes from, I think, that great Australian team, Roy and HG (although Hinge will know properly) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_and_HG

I really only like very fresh dates. They taste a little like toffee.

@margo,
Will sticky toffee pudding be a proper alternative to sticky date pudding?

So if two Australian couples double date...and at some point one of the foursome confesses "I kissed his date"...

...an explanation of the "date" would be necessary?

@bobsal u1553115,
That's why I hate to use "foursome" except when talking about golf. Wink

@Frank Apisa,
But Frank, just think of the cache' the thought of this adventurous Frankie A would give you! You can always deny it but actually passively 'promote' it, just sigh and say, "right, me in a 'foursome'!" with a certain twinkle in your eye! Get some wifebeaters and an unbuttoned silk Aloha' shirt.

@Frank Apisa,
Frank. Please tell me you don't golf! <cue> mild/ambiguous "of course not" - action!

@bobsal u1553115,
During the summer, I golf four or five days each week.

And I have had a ponytail.

@Frank Apisa,
Frankie - you're halfway there! My wife is a 30 year vet of CIA and is on the board of the county Republican Women. I have a ponytail and dye shop. Most don't even know about my military background!

You ought to hear the talk!

Is there some secret meaning to being a golfer, or having a ponytail? Something to do with being in the military?

What's the deal with a "wifebeater and a silk aloha shirt"? Am I out of the loop with that one too?
