Do you even know who he is?
I read Ellison quite a bit in the 60s or 70s. He wrote sci fi and a column on television called "The Glass Teat."
I've read a number of his stories. The one that comes to mind immediately is "A Boy and His Dog," which was also made into a movie. Some of his stuff is very pessimistic and hard to take, but he has a lot of talent. I also liked his script for the "Star Trek" episode, "The City on the Edge of Forever."
The story I recall best for some reason concerns a middle aged man who races and beats the champion street racer in a savage game that takes place in normal traffic.
