A "Love Boat" pool party! What a great idea! Is Bear going to be Captain Stubing?

ahem!! I'm not that bald yet and I'm too thin.....

I just finished talking to one of my old partners and we're going to reform our duet and start playing live again... that's always a motivator for me...

Not all fun and games... Today I've also dealt with

1. a gas leak in the clubhouse
2. the phone guy reconfiguring some lines
3. the cleaning crew needing to be re-called to do the job right
4. clean up after holes for wiring were drilled in my office
5. figuring out why the DVD player in the house system won't work

.... Is it five o'clock yet??

but I stumbled on a FABULOUS idea that will make much cash.... and shopped it to a couple of agents already who were over the moon enthused.... I can be in this in one week and if I book it ONLY in clubs 6 days a week it will be paid for in 11 business days..... I'm going to drain my savings and do it right away..... very exciting.

Three meetings today (all by phone) and missed a fourth because it conflicted with the third. Got to mess around with ftp and using the command prompt (which I don't do all that often). Worked on user security and closed a Help Desk ticket (I work on the A2K Help Desk all the time; it's weird doing that and actually getting paid for it). Also tested reports and found a misleadingly named report.

Tomorrow, more ftp stuff and more report testing.

Ooh, I hope you didn't. Learning to do 3-D stuff actually sounds pretty cool.

I can't even do Google "Sketchup."

i was a good boy on friday.

the problem with the 3D software is it ain't geared to our trade, so we don't have the symbols we need.

we will have to wait for IT to build them for us...

Okay, you get a belly rub, too. (rubrubrub... good boy!)

Dadpad's making some disabled symbols if you could use some of those.

(I'll probably never understand the corporate goings on... One team waiting for another team in order for a third team to... I'd have to just jump in and do it myself so we could move on.)

Doing more user security as there are training sessions next week, meetings a-gogo and more ftp stuff, including helping the guy developing some scripts to do some troubleshooting and process improvement. I'll have stuff to report on Dispatches but -- I hope understandably -- I can't quite write it right now.

it's simply a Matter of Toes
(as in, not stepping on certain ones... and keeping your own in tact as well...)

Today I ftp'd a bunch of data from one server to another and also tried to put out a security fire.

The real fun was I would get interrupted by one and then the other and around and around and I finally just called for a timeout and told the folks that there's no way I'm actually going to learn this stuff if I can't finish a task from soup to nuts.

So they left me alone. For about twenty minutes. And so it goes.

PS Yesterday I had lunch with my boss and the recruiter who got me this job. My boss said I was doing good work. Embarrassed

issued a portion of a large project this afternoon -- what a PITA.

having all sorts of issues creating PDF's with Autocad2008.
weeding through a large folder full of files to locate the 26 pertinent ones was a chore.
but the pièce de résistance was accidentally changing ALL the A's to B's in an excel spreadsheet.

time to brush up on the "find and replace" function... Confused

friday was another one of these laborious tasks of issuing a portion of a large job -- 200 out of 350 drawings.

the worst part is i knew nothing about it until it was dumped in my lap.
i proceeded to bust my hump, and got 'er done.

it was one of those deals where the work got nauseating after a while.
it was like "if i have to open one more file, i think i'm gonna sick all over the keyboard!"

huge relief when i got to the very last one...
