I listened to this album today for the first time in a long time and I love this juxtaposition of REM songs:

REM - another favorite couplet - water:

I was gonna put this in my songs I'm a little embarrassed to admit I like thread - because this song is so overwrought, but legitimately deeply felt and has a beautiful melody so sometimes I even cry when I hear it:

but then I found this and now I can laugh and cry to the same melody - a perfect couplet

I just figured out why I love this last mix so much - it's got the urban influence- (new Jersey) the texas influence (galveston) the urban/bluegrass influence (nj/ny/nc) and the british influence....this mix just speaks to me.
