I have officially gone over to the side of the fence where people with pocket protectors and tape on their eyeglasses are sex gods.

I mentioned the other day I discovered a really nice public pool is right on my way home, and I've been stopping by to take a 1/2 hour dip at the end of the day.

Here's the thing...I can barely swim. I grew up with a deep fear of water, I can remember being scared of getting my hair washed in the shower.

I taught myself to swim when I was 16, and, if no one is around, I would have a jolly old time splashing about.

One thing I've never been able to do is keep water from going up my nose, ouch ouch ouch...if it happens while trying to swim, I usually start drowning.

I hate opening my eyes underwater also.

And, since I color my hair, I really don't want to subject it to chlorine.

So, I boughtmyself a speedo swim cap, like I'm going to the olympics or something.

I notice kids there, and some adults wear those eye goggles and I thought "I want some, but that won't keep water out of my nose"

I await the arrival from Amazon of my Speedo Vanquisher Plus Mirrored Swim Goggles, and my Speedo Competition Nose Clip

Free shipping.

I'm hoping Speedo will note I have now purchased 3 of their products, and we can work out a deal for my endorsements.

Survival depends on flexibility. Chai, you're a flexible, progressive woman with a healthy dallop of vanity.

no way.

i've already told you to come to the pool

get yourself a colorful sports bra and mens swim trunks like I did, and come take a dip.

I actually bought a spare pair of SPEEDO VANQUISHER PLUS MIRRORED SWIM GOOGLES, and 3 pairs of the SPEEDO COMPETITION NOSE CLIP, so you can go underwater too!

Unfortunately, I only have one SPEEDO OLYMPIC SWIM CAP. I'll call Marge @ Speedo's public relations dept and ask her to send me another one.

I think I may need flippers.

No, water wings first, then flippers.

I hope you like your goggles - they all fit differently. When I got mine a salesperson fitted me - had to discard a few.

Have you tried that Resolve for swimming? You put it in your hair as a protection before you put your cap on. There's also a conditioner. I found the chlorine wrecked my hair so I had to buy that stuff. Really helped.

Another thing to do to avoid chlorine damage is to thoroughly wet your hair before you go into the pool. Most public pools require you to shower anyway, to remove oils and sweat that can dirty the water.

The reason, I heard, was that dry hair is like a sponge, and if you wet it with plain water before you hit the chlorine, your hair won't be able to absorb it.

Seemed to work for me; I'm a longhaired blonde whose hair is the same color now as it was when I was eight...
