I am familiar with Pandora, Last.fm and the others but can anyone suggest a site that plays mostly "new music". The aforementioned sites are far too retro for my tastes.

most local radio stations have a website with streaming music.

If you know that you like one station... ty finding them on the web.

Or, dedicate about 30 minutes to Yahoo music.
You tell it exactly the bands you like and it will play them.
It gives you some variety , and all you have to do is say things like " Dont play song /or band again" and it sort of adjusts itself to your tastes..

Understood but this is exactly what I am trying to get away from.
I have my "go to bands" but I also want to be exposed to other bands and most importantly "new" bands and newer music. For instance, I was not even aware that Coldplay released two new singles for a new album because I was too busy listening to Pandora and others that only play what I tell it to play.

I will look into pulling some old stations that I used to listen to in NY.

I am considering subscribing to Sirius or something.

I'm reading about it now.
been over a year in the making.

probably wouldn't be good for the consumer though, they could potentially do whatever they want...??? but judging from some of the current prices it wouldn't be too bad.
