I don't know; somebody told my wife that Floyd Tilman has died. Floyd lived between Houston and Galveston in Baclif. He sang with a voice about like John Wayne imitating James Stewart, but a few of his songs were pretty well written:

Seems I always have to slip around
To be with you my dear
Slipping around
Afraid we might be found - Slipping Around

I love you so much it hurts me
Darling that's why I'm so blue
I wanna hold you my dear forever and ever
I love you so much it hurts me so - I Love You So Much It Hurts Me

I recall when I was a boy the local disc jocky refused to play Slipping Around and quite a few other records that offended his sense of morality. Floyd Tilman and his wife were divorced a number of times. She told the story that he kept writing her songs that brought her back to him. Last time she hurriedly met someone else and got married to him to keep Floyd from winning her back still again.
If anybody knows, I would appreciate hearing about it.

Edgar, couldn't find anything on Google news but did find this at Yahoo! for you. Searched some AP News archives and didn't find anything either. This is the only mention of his death anywhere that I can find.

Well, he died on August 22.

Country Music Hall of Famer Floyd Tillman, 88, died at his Houston-area home on Friday (8/22). He was known for writing Bing Crosby's 1939 No. 1 hit "It Makes No Difference Now," and scored his own first No. 1 with 1944's "They Took the Stars Out of Heaven."

Dolly Parton, George Jones, Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard sang duets with Tillman for a forthcoming album titled "The Influence." He finished recording the set earlier this year, and it is due in stores in November.

I found a couple of papers reporting about it (the above is from "livedaily - musiic news"). More:

Walt and Butr
I appreciate the info. While I may castigate Tilman's singing, I nevertheless enjoyed listening to his records.

Thanks, Kev. Maybe it will answer a few questions for me about some other celebrities.
