I like to strap on my '79 Les Paul Custom, plug it into my sweet Gallien-Kreuger amp with my RealTube distortion pedal and play a little Neil Diamond every once in a while.

But seriously folks...when I had people to jam with, we did the standard Zeppelin, Sabbath, MC5, Stooges thing. That and just wailing in an improv style with tons of beer.

Zeppelin's Rock and Roll and Dazed and Confused were favorites, Sabbath's War Pigs and Iron Man, MC5's Kick Out the Jams (the reason I noticed this topic), and the Stooges No Fun, and I Wanna Be Your Dog. The rest is all a blur. I do know we sucked too much to learn any Deep Purple tunes. A bass player friend of ours joined a band called Rocktopus, who were very cool, and when that was over, joined a wee band known as Our Lady Peace. Two friends started a band called Noisebleed, and then went on to establish Godspeed You Black Emperor. You never know what can come out of good jamming...

Believe it or not, the kids are still jamming to Iron Man. A classic song.

However, if you want guitar playing check out Pantera, truly a religious expirence!

I know Pantera quite well, not personally, but love their music, especially Far Beyond Driven. Heavy ****...Diamond Darrell rocks too...

Damn Pimp, you shocked me with that!

But Reinventing the Steel and Vulgar Display of Power is their best work!

Although they have no bad work!

The greatest hits album is coming out soon!

Dime and Vinnie have the side project New Found Power, that album should be out before Christmas!

How 'bout a theme song fer this here thread... Smile

I've been elected to rock your asses til midnight
This is my term, and I've jammed out my perm, but it's all right
I solemnly swear to uphold the Constitution
Got a rock and roll problem?
Well we got the solution

Set and see who I am
Let me kick out the jams, yeah
Kick out the jams
I done kicked em out

I've been selected to orbit the planet in a rocket
I'm going to mars, I got a message for the poodle in your pocket
Mission Control, calling supernova
The nightlife's rockin', you can come on over

And let us see who we am,
Let me kick out the jams, yeah
Kick out the jams
I done kicked em out

Vulgar Display of Power is awesome too...don't have Reinventing the Steel, but their first album, Cowboys From Hell is, looking back, a bit lame. I forgot about the name change to Dimebag.

Walk!! Are you talking to me??

KICK OUT THE JAMS
Words & music by MC5

Kick out the jams motherfuckers !
Yeah! I, I, I, I, I'm gonna
I'm gonna kick 'em out ! Yeah !
Well i feel pretty good
And i guess that i could get crazy now baby
Cause we all got in tune
And when the dressing room got hazy now baby

I know how you want it child
Hot, quick and tight
The girls can't stand it
When you're doin'it right
Let me up on the stand
And let me kick out the jam
Yes, kick out the jams
I want to kick'em out !

Yes i'm starting to sweat
You know my shirt's all wet
What a feeling
In the sound that abounds
And resounds and rebounds off the ceiling

You gotta have it baby
You can't do without
When you get that feeling
You gotta sock'em out
Put that mike in my hand
And let me kick out the jam
Yes ! Kick out the jams
I want to kick'em out
( guitar )

So you got to give it up
You know you can't get enough Miss Mackenzie
Cause it gets in your brain
It drives you insane
With the frenzy

The wigglin guitars girl
The crash of the drums
Make you wanna keep-a-rockin'
Till the morning comes

Let me be who i am
And let me kick out the jam
Yes, kick out the jams
I done kicked em out !!!
