Somewhere I've posted the story of an A2K get-together to which I invited a colleague (recent immigrant from Ukraine) and her husband (even newer immigrant from India by way of Russia and Ukraine).

He already knew me as Beth so when I introduced JoeBlow, BoGoWo and Wenchilina it didn't occur to him that those were not their real names. Made for an interesting lunch.

No. I know who I am and am quite comfortable with it. My username is only typed.... not spoken. Cool

Confused

I'm not uncomfortable with either my real name, or my username.

I'm the same person whatever I call myself.

It's like when someone says "mom" and 3 women turn around.

I'll tell you what though, nobody better try straddling me or anything.

I don't introduce myself as my username, but I do talk to people and say "Bear" instead of Steve.

"Oh, I know, Bear and I were talking about that the other day and..."

Or

"I'll check with Bear and see if he wants to go too."

Lots of confused looks follow until I realize what I'm saying.

I call Dys 'Dys' a lot. I feel quite lame in doing that, but it's baked into my brain.

It would be magical if people called me plantress in real life. Kind of like "your majesty"!

Wally always refers to you as shewolf.

Then again, he's got a nickname for every person he's ever met.

My son, when making a reference to something I may have done or do on the computer, refers to dadpad.

Get dadppad to post something funny on A2K.

Oh-soh Boo-koh . . . it means the shank bone of a calf, but specifically, a dish made with the veal shank bone in Lombardy, especially in Milan.

Set nails it..

I've had a number of small fits about it in the past, lest some people start calling me Bucko.. (quails at the thought).
