I just can't see myself listening to a group called "And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead" or a song called "I'll kill her."

You should Drew - they are actually cute songs. Soko is a French lady and 'I'll kill her' is a semi-acoustic piece of self deprecation and whimsy. And the trail of the dead stuff is modern prog rock, almost symphonic, but with a sense of the ridiculous 'Gold heart mountain top queen directory' is quite possibly the most meaningless chorus I've ever heard, but it sounds purty.

Go on - give them a listen - I promise you they're not death metal or hip hop.

IMO right now is actually a great time to go backwards in time for good music and recollect before a new era of espression blossoms.

Listen to a band which inspired the bands you like. For me it was listening to The Pixies.

I liked the Winehouse clips. I like things a little more R&B than what I heard from Foo Fighters.

Jury's out on Fugees. I've bookmarked so that I can go back and give another listen.
