I have a heart-shaped pin cushion with an arrow on it. Got it from my sorority. If I can get the scanner hooked up I'll show a pic. That may take a while. A long while.

My mother's tomato pincushion was filled with sawdust. The strawberry that was attached to it with a piece of green floss was filled tighly with emery. You took a needle from the tomato and poked the strawberry with it several times to sharpen the point.

I suppose the sawdust was supposed to keep the pins and needles from rusting.

Alas, my mother and the pincushion are no longer with us...
