According to Mame, everyone does.

I'm skeptical.

If you do have one, feel free to post your image here, since I notice there is no venue on this site for those that do possess one, and wish to talk about it.

I do ask however, strawberry pincushion images not be posted.

Somewhere, in the mists of my distant past, I seem to remember having one of those. But alas, no more. As of late, I have been keeping my pins in one of those little paper boxes that once held earrings.

I've got one of those, too - from Chinatown, Vancouver. It's obligatory if you live there. That and those embroidered eye glass cases.

soz, I can tell you haven't let yourself go through the grieving process over your loss.

it's okay, this is a safe place to talk about it.

So, you live in an area where there is much pressure to conform?

How do you feel about being forced to aquire a 2nd pincushion that was not a tomato?

*sniff*

It wasn't actually mine, it was my mom's, and...

*sniff*

When I moved away from home, I had nothing, and since then...

*sniff*

I just have been putting my pins in...

*sob*

A little white box!

You and Phoenix seem to be in the same boat.

However, I sense an acceptance in Phoenix that you don't share.

Would you like me to coordinate a therapy date between the 2 of you?

Much can be accomplished over muffins and tea.

Don't have one - never had - and probably never will.

I do remember my mom might have had one.

Don't have any pins either - I have some needles and a few safety pins, I keep in an old baby jar. I'm not very domestic so I don't have much use for stuff like that.

First of all, isn't "old baby" an oxymoron?

Second, that sounds none too safe for the old baby.

A proper pincushion should be filled with emory--or at least sand--to take the rust off the pin shafts.

Well, to answer your second question first, I have enough pins to go around, so the two pincushion issue is perfect for me, thanks for inquiring, Chai.

And it's not so much conforming as it is joining a select club. There are many things we Chinatown-hang-arounders know that outsiders just could not, and we revel in that knowledge. Like where to get the best Deep Fried Curry Beef Buns, where the best deal on tea and ginseng is found, how to eat a lychee properly... you get the picture.
