I've had the same problem - it really varies where and what brand looks best because they keep changing them. I recently went looking for jeans too. I tried on about 30 pairs. I prefer the slim fit, below the waist -no design other than normal stitching. I've bought almost and will try on almost any pair - personally I don't like to spend more than $50 for jeans. I found some great pairs on sale at Macy's but like I said I tried on a ton til I found two that I liked.

I was shocked and wouldn't even try on a pair of jordache jeans - I guess it is back to the 70s.

Success!! At the grocery store of all places!

This grocery/stuff store over by my house has their Converse shoes for buy one get one at 1/2 off so I headed over there today to replinish my supply and decided to look at jeans while I was there.

They had Lee jeans on sale so I tried some on and they fit pretty good; they're boot cut but I've grown used to that since it's about all you can find anymore. They hit just below the waiste, aren't gigantically long, softish denim without spangles and stitching. Also, they were under $30 a pair.

If I like them after a few wears I should go back and buy more because now they are sure to quit making them.

So I got groceries, two pairs of jeans, two pairs of shoes, two pairs of shoes for Mo, and some Valentine heavy metal to download onto his iPod for $200!

Ever try Wrangler jeans? You can get them at Target for about $20 or less.

Lately I've been getting jeans at Costco because they are only $12. But their sizing is way off, at least in length. I have a 32" inseam, but in Kirkland jeans, I walk on them - and hate it. I have to get them in 30" inseam. Since they don't have a dressing room, this is a good thing to know.

Disturbing visual, Bi.

If VS is doing sweat pants, wonder whether
Nike will come out with a jog-bustier?

VS has been doing sweats for years. VS PINK is pretty common.

It helps to sign up for the catalog, and the free e-mail that shows up almost daily. Very Happy

I used to wear Saturday jeans, too. Loved them. I get most of my jeans at TJ Maxx and never pay more than $25.99. The last jeans I got were Calvin Klein and they fit just like the Saturday jean. Don't know the model. For work, I usually buy the store brand at Target. On sale they usually run about $15.

Coldwater Creek ($59.95 regular price, but they're frequently on sale.)

They're available in blue denim, black denim, and seasonal colors. Wide range of sizes, too.

I'm a befuddled shopper, but I've been lucky enough to acquire a Wardrobe Mistress who is not only interested in upholstering my flesh, but who adores chasing bargains.

Earlier this month she found jeans on sale at Coldwater Creek and got me two pairs for $9.99 each. Originally they had been priced for $59.99 and $69.99.

Gloria Vanderbilt is a good fit for me--or used to be. I've lost weight and I'm gaining muscle and my figure is...mutable...right now.

This site has been helpful in deciding what brands might be a good fit.

Manager/Silver jeans. Always can find a good price (20-30 bucks).

I opt for the simple styles. Straight legged! Slightly below the belly button.

What I really love about them is that I can find something that fits me without a balloon at the hips, or in the bum. So important for it to fit in the bum properly!

And all this without assuming I am 5'9 or up. They make some jeans for smaller women that don't look like "mens" or "boy" jeans.

PLUS, the kind I have has lovely soft material sewed in the inside near the waist and such. Bonus.

"As a teenager, I squeezed into size-12 jeans. Over the past three decades, I've put on about 20 pounds, mostly below the waist. I now wear a size 6. People in the garment business call that bit of flattery "vanity sizing." Sizes aren't what they used to be. "

That explains alot to me. I actually have difficulty finding clothes to fit me. I am small - but I know there are others that are tinier than me. I wear at some places a size 0 or 2. Prior to having babies, I was strictly a size 4 pretty much every where. Now after having babies and coming close (still a little bit bigger) to pre-pregancies weight how did I suddenly become 2 or sizes smaller. I know I'm not.

My question what do the former size 2 and 0s wear?

I don't think Size 2 and Size 0 have always existed.

I have a petite friend in college who complained bitterly about having to buy her clothes in the f.....ing children's department. (Fifty years later she can afford a dressmaker).

But what do they wear then? I see women much smaller than me. I am small, but jeepers I know that I am bigger than I was 10 years ago.

I guess it must be the children's clothes - I have gotten T shirts in kids xL by the way.
