I'm still a fan of the classics - pearl earrings, good watch - that sort of thing.

I've found that even the mmmmmm most alternative young women seem to like pearl earrings. Not sure why.

I got my wife a pair of beautiful 7mm pearl earrings for Christmas. I won't tell you how much I paid (or how little) other than to say Costco is the largest volume Jeweler in the United States for a reason.

All she has asked for is a new phone. That is so unfun though. Last year all she got was dinner (for 11 at a Japanese steakhouse, it was fun, but $$$).

If anyone is wondering, Dys's post referred to an old Robert Johnson song from 1936, in which the handgun is used as a metaphor for the physical traits of a woman.

Given 44-20-32, at about 6'6", you basically have Barbie.

I am aware there were some produced in the 32-20 caliber. Kinda cool that way back then they were getting into small bullets at high velocity. It also suffers from extreme muzzle blast. Still, your post refers to the song, I'm quite sure.

Excuse me for a moment while I turn down my speaker volume, my wife hates it when the troll alarm goes off on Sunday morning.

That's extraordinarily helpful, dys Rolling Eyes

~~~
She's asked for a phone, done the big party thing.
How about fancy dinner just with dad, after a smaller family dinner. Give her the phone at the family party, and the pearls at the father-daughter dinner.
Is she about to go off to college? College stuff would be good -- I recall getting things like a new backpack (which I still have, almost 30 yrs later -- it was VERY well made), etc.
Possibly, she's leaning towards art college. Her grades aren't so hot but she has artistic talent.
One of the best gifts I got for HS graduation turned out to be a battery operated pencil sharpener. Being an engineer, I went through about 10 pencils a day before I could get back to that sharpener. Mechanical pencils weren't widely available at the time and were quite expensive.
Give her an over night party in a nice hotel room with 3 or 4 of her friends.
ADULT free...
