ok. this was too cool not to share...

went out to sit in my truck to talk on the phone (cabin has poor signal)

the birds obviously were not paying attention when I slipped in and sat down to talk for a while to an old friend. (crusty even...)

one of the male cardinals swooped up and landed next to my side mirror. he kept jumping from the door to the mirror and back again, cracking seeds as he went.

then for good measure, he took a whack with his big black beak at the bird in the mirror as he flew away. I'd been wondering what the marks all over it were...

The twinks had their birthday party today. We ended up with 26 kids at the park. TWENTY SIX KIDS. Wow. I bought them all kites at the dollar tree. When the parents came to pick up their kids I told them to look for their kids at the end of the string. It was a PERFECT day. 74 degrees, breezy, sunny - awesome.
