long day.
had a what made me smile moment though...
we went to dinner at the mexican joint like we been doing on Fridays, and it's up by the railroad tracks. prolly 6 or 8 tracks wide where it crosses the road.
anyways, there was a car broken down on the tracks, and 3 people standing there waving their arms and crying.
and a cop.
and a train approaching...
we stopped to watch. (high drama is rare and wonderful on the hot dusty prairie)
the brave cop pulled up along side of the disabled car, and turned on his lights.
the train started puffing black smoke... (this is getting more fun all the time)
the train is a big one, pulling a long line of double stacked truck trailers. verra heavy. but it could stop, it was at town speed and the acceleration spot is a coupla miles on out north.
the cop gets on his honky PA system squelcher thing. HONK.
the train one ups him and lays into the horn (i cant type a train horn noise, but you know the one. long and hard) and he hits the throttle, diesels full on...
cop moves his car forward about ten feet. then twenty.
train blows past with inches to spare, and the drama ends.
Ida given anything to have a scanner and hear the cop blustering about the damn train driver that will report to the trainmaster that he couldn't see it in time to stop...
I had the monterrey.
