those squirrels are chumps. I thought I had squirreled proofed my new bird feeder. I swear I saw four squirrels standing on each others shoulders to get to this feeder....and now their being defient, I just tapped on the window, and they only paused for a few seconds then returned to raking all the seed out to get to the sunflower seeds. I've had squirrel chilli, but, I'm nicer then that. Tis the season.
I have a friend that went through all sorts of squirrel feeders... no, no, I mean bird feeders... before zeroing on one that really worked. I'll check with him to find out which one he's finally chosen.

This is the only feeder I've found to feed birds and not squirrels.
I love mine.
Did you stay up until midnight--when the animals talk--to hear them say "Thank you"?
