Woman Accused Of Groping Santa
Police: Woman Inappropriately Touched Santa At Mall

DANBURY, CONN. -- A Danbury woman is facing charges that she groped Santa Claus at the Danbury Fair mall.

Sandrama Lamy has been charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and breach of peace.

Danbury police were called to the mall over the weekend. The mall Santa told police that Lamy had touched him inappropriately while sitting on his lap.

Capt. Bob Myles said police were able to quickly find and identify Lamy because she was on crutches.

Lamy has been released on a promise to appear in court on Jan. 3.

A message seeking comment was left on Lamy's answering machine Tuesday morning. A woman at that number called back to say "It's a false report and I don't have any idea."

Police are not releasing the name of the man playing Santa, but they said he is 65 and felt badly because children were waiting to see him.

"He was apparently shocked and embarrassed by the whole incident," Myles said.

the crutches would indicate to me that no matter what nasty thing I did to her.... she wouldn't be able to get away. Just makes her more attractive...

It's bad form for a mall Santa to have a raging boner on-the-job--I know from experience. The woman leaves, an eight-year-old boy with glasses approaches, security arrives, there's a camera crew, you're kicking the windows of the police cruiser with your Santa boots. The whole thing escalates rather quickly.

At work we decided the scenario was that, since she was on crutches, she lost her balance and, well, grabbed a hold of the first, erm, handle she could find.

What the hell is he complaining about?

Then again, each time I've been served one of my 321 restraining orders, I've always wondered why those women didn't enjoy the groping either.

I've heard two Santa's--early 20's, needed Christmas job--complain that ten and eleven year old girls had been deliberately arousing.

They were both rather self-centered, he-manly types.

This was 40-odd years ago when it wasn't likely that all these pre-teens had practical knowledge of male anatomy.

Of course, better to blame the kids than admit to yourself that you had been sexually aroused by a child.

I wasn't there. I don't know--but it is possible that this Santa had a screw loose.
