All depends on her taste -- I'm assuming she likes Lyle Lovett and wanted shearling boots. Seems like a good general breakdown -- practical + fun.

Also seems like a TON of stuff to me!!! We tend to exchange, like, a couple of books.

I dunno, so far her gifts only total up to about $200. Not that much to spend on a spouse for Christmas. Crap, my girls each asked for about $500 worth of stuff (they won't get it all), and my son wants game for the Wii, which run about $50/pop.

We like a well surrounded Christmas tree! Laughing

Sounds like fun to me, with what you've gathered up for her Christmas, I dunno why a foodsaver wouldn't work out with the rest of it now.

It could work, but I'd be a bit nervous about an appliance gift.

~~~
Is there anything in her Christmas gift selection that could be interpreted as a gift to share with you? Tickets to a show/dinner reservation/lingerie ...? I'd want to offset the practicality of the Foodsaver with something a bit more mmmm obviously romantic.
Honestly I do often buy things that we will need or could use in the next few months and give them out at Christmas. I learned it from my Mom - you are gonna have to spend the money anyway, why not make the pile under the tree bigger? It's also a way to give subtle hints. Sometimes I'd get whitening toothpaste in my sock... you get the idea.
We typically do a prime rib for Christmas, but not this year. I'm going to do a double rack crown roast of pork with a small ham on the side for those that must have ham. This is going to save me a fair chunk of change that I can spend on presents (or not) as pork runs about 1/5 the price of prime beef AND is easier to cook AND tastes great. Pork fat rules! Cheap bastard that I am.
Get a hand made one from a woodworker artist. Not a mass produced dime store reject.
Plus, with a little modification, it could double as a humidor.
This is an awesome idea.
cj, I think the food saver alone would have been a bad idea, but by adding the other stuff, it's looking good. Obviously, I think the jewelry box is a great idea.
I've wanted a food saver for years (have a nice big standing deep freeze), so it's something I would have liked as a Christmas gift, as long as it wasn't the only one there.
Kitchen appliences can be very tricky gifts. All depends on the woman ;-)
You know your wife and it sounds as if she's someone who would love a food saver :-D
Good luck and ho ho ho :-D
Here in west Michigan there's a long history of fine furniture making. Dunno if they do anything like that though, with those inlays - that's pretty unique. I like Tico's suggestion that it would double as a humidor! Laughing
