Any member of A2K who has read my threads knows that I'm not a big fan of mass-produced individuality. Commercial Yard Art usually provokes my scorn and snobbish disdain.
All the same, I've fallen in love with a very pink Pig with Wings which is now installed outside my window. I reckon she'll function as a combination wind sock, visual literary reference and Western version of Tibetan prayer wheels or prayer flags.
With all this individual responsibility, my mass-produced Pig with Wings deserves a name.
Because she arrived on Halloween in a waning moon, I'm torn between christening her "Titania" or "Queen Mab".
Does anyone have a better idea?
I voted for Titania, but I think we can come up with more options.
I'll think about that on the elliptical, which is where I'm heading.
Floyd? (pigs on the wing)
Mac--
I'd appreciate your thinking cap. She is a special pig.
Rockhead--
Floydess? In spite of her brassy, bulk my totem is very definitely feminine.
Floydess has a certain heft as a name. I think I like it, I think I like it, I DO like it.
For varied reasons, I'm somewhat halloween avoidant, though understanding of others' love of it for their own varied reasons, including the sheer theater of it.
However, I'll direct my pignalion efforts towards a more year round tag.
Off thinking..
Andouillette would be a very fancy, I think.
But my two friends here ...
... totally disagree -
La Rosa is their choice.
Poke salad Annie...
no, no, shaddup, osso.
Hmm, if pigs can fly, why, oh why, can't I?
I'm thinking of those planes that seem too heavy to lift off the tarmac..
Perhaps, then, Amelia?
googling gooney birds.. and DC 3's...
Trouble with all that, is that that might relate to what I would name my flying pink pig - and, by the way, Ticomaya sent me one for my birthday, if I wanted to name it - and not what Noddy would name hers.
Off to try to be literary..
Well, it's bloody obvious to me that the pig should be named a diminutive of Wilbur, of Charlotte's Web fame... now, let's see...
Wilbernadette
Wilbernice
Wilbernadicta
hmmm... yes, those sounds perfectly lovely.
Remember the three little pigs (Disney) - one was named Edmund,
the other Fiddler, and the last Fifer. Oh wait, Noddy has a girl pig.
Perhaps Felicita. Germans consider little pink pigs as mojo.
Of course, there's always the alliterative, as in:
Picabo Pig
Suzy Sow
Hilary Hog
you get the drift ...
When -- as in "when pigs have wings"
Or Floydene.
The Floyd stuff has to do with pink floyd, of course, but that may not be Noddy's music of choice. She and I are somewhat the same age, and I stopped listening to a lot of radiomusic just before pink floyd got popular, as... I thought what was happening was too tame and lame (begging your pardons, that was my pov).
Let me not ascribe that to Noddy, whose musical taste I don't know, but, on the other hand, Floydian may or may not move her naming interest as much as for some.
I like Wilbernice. Or Wilbreena. Wilbernadette?
Pignacious?
Or maybe I'm dead wrong...
I don't understand Wilberniece, etc., but Noddy probably will.
Pignacious has a certain presence...
I'd been thinking along the same lines as Mame, with a Wodehousian twist ...
