But CBS Sunday Morning did a list of the ten songs that people can't get outta their heads.
Odd patterens, two were songs that we learn as kids, two jingles, and a bunch of songs that pop up at sports events.
So what are yours.
Here are mine, In no order.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
500 Miles-The Proclaimers
Higher-Creed
Do You Hear What I Hear-Unknown
Simply The Best-Tina Turner (There's a reason)
Iris-Goo Goo Dolls
Message In A Bottle-The Police
and various songs that are hot on the radio at a given time.
Hey, Neo. Welcome to A2K. There are a couple of songs that I can't seem to get out of my head. One, is "Song of India" and the other is, "I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow".
Theme to Welcome Back Kotter
Tubthumping, by Chumbawamba:
Ah get knocked oot,
But ah gi'oop;agin'
An' youre na'ever gonna keep me doon...
I don't pick 'em; they just get stuck.
Picture of Steve Perry in the NYT brought "Oh, Sherrie" screaming back.
Well, 2 potential cures are either to sing (I suppose you could just speak) the words out loud - or, you can always pass 'em onto a friend.
These days, I haven't had one (oddly enough), but I'm sure I'll have one again soon.

In many cases, at least for me, HEARING the song on the radio can unstick the song.
Of course, it can also stick the song in ones head.
The other day I listened to a collection of Don Gibson songs: I Can't Stop Loving You, Oh Lonesome Me and several others. Now his song, Sea Of Heartbreak, is stuck in my head. Nothing helps but time.
I seems I get a new selection every day, sometimes several times a day. With me though, I get stuck on the same damn line, over and over again. But a perenial favourite is Flinstones, meet the flintstones... I had The Man of Constant Sorrow stuck in the past, I don't mind it to much cause at least I can try different harmonies.
Thanks,
Ceili
Due to watching "I Love the 70s", I now have Anita Ward's "Ring My Bell" stuck in my head. Argh!!!!
jespah, I'm with ya sister.
As a youngster, I awoke one morning in a panic. I was at a sleepover and someone set the alarm to radio. I awoke to that song and it's haunted me ever since.
Thanks a lot Jes. Now I can't get it out of my head!
You can ring my be-e-ell.
Ring my bell.
I'm turning Japanese,
I think I'm turning Japanese,
I really think so...
Sorry, swimperella.
How 'bout "Lady Marmalade", which is also featured in I Love the 70s and is also trapped in my skull????
Hey sister go
sister soul
etc. yadda yadda yadda
It seems to me that the 70s were a prime time for earworms.
Steely Dan- Do It Again (that weird shaking instrument then the keyboards)
Cars- forgot his name...Thomas Dolby?
Ozzy- Crazy Train (aye aye aye)
Zeppelin- Immigrant Song (love the chords)
Every now and then I get the Belafonte version of Sakura stuck in my head.
