For work, I usually carry this:

I can carry my ipod, work id, a shawl, lipstick, hairbrush, a general "balm" for headache and cold, pen, my little lunch box, tissues, keys.
For evenings, i have this black leather hidesign (the only indian leather brand that i know of) bag, which easily holds keys, lipstick, and phone.

After years of being bogged down by a purse, I got rid of it. If I can't carry it in my pockets, it doesn't go with me.
The result is that the boyfriend often asks me if I have such and such with me, then realizes again that I don't carry a purse and would be no more likely than he is to have whatever it is. He wishes I packed again.
