It's not considered tasteful to hang people from trees anymore in America.

If we had a christmas tree, I'd hang Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rummy, and Gonzales from our tree.

Hanging (toy) soldiers on a chritmas tree is not a custom In OZ.

I'm not a Murrican, but yes, sort of.

I've got miniatures of the little soldier Christmas smokers (kind of the Nutcracker soldiers), that can be hung on the Christmas tree. You can find them in most Christmas shoppes/departments in Canada and the U.S.
