Such as?
I believe that anything in life can change so that it's importance/viability is thrown into question.
There are somethings I can't/don't want to imagine changing, thus making them less important, or no longer viable....but logically I know that can happen to anything.
I'm with freeduck...giving up, in the right circumstances, can be very liberating.
Bear, have you been watching too much Naruto?
Bi-Polar Bear wrote:we're wired differently I suppose. If I was trying to do something for someone and learned they didn't want or need it or that it was best to just let something go because it was counterproductive , well that's different from giving up. That's modifying your approach.
A rose is a rose is a rose...
Some things are easier to give up, they aren't important enough,
others are worth fighting for.

That's sad. Life is so much easier once you give up.
Sometimes, like when I'm doing a particularly difficult soduku, I change my approach by tearing that page out of the book and throwing it away.
And, sometimes I give up.
I don't find giving up to necessarily be a bad thing.

BPB, what do you call the end of a relationship?
give up:
a. to abandon hope; despair.
b. to desist from; renounce: to give up smoking.
c. to surrender; relinquish.
d. to devote (oneself) entirely to.
I give up sometimes, just to keep my sanity.

I don't get why you're tieing the end of a relationship to this thread....

Isn't it obvious? The end of a relationship signifies giving up on it. Not a pejorative statement, but it's true. As you know, I'm in the same boat, myself. Sometimes it's just the right time to do it but it doesn't negate the fact that it's giving up.
Well, bear, your thread inspired me to write a poem. The muse has been missing of late.
Mame, I wasn't aware of your situation. If you are sorry, then I am sorry. If not, then so be it, gal. <smile>
Letty, thank you for your concern and support. We're just moving in different directions. We are amicable about it and are remaining good friends. He's a very lovable man and he's integral to my children's lives.
mame honey, it had to do with the recovery of my business which went from a half a mil a year business to a 250 dollar a week business and is now self sustaining and growing again. I got sick, I almost died, I dug in and went to work and hated it but I did what needed to be done. I quit my job in Dec. of 2006 and told squinney at the time that within six months I'd be making a better living than I made at the "regular" job and I did, as I always do, exactly what I said I was going to do, because I never give up. That's not arrogant or prideful, anyone can do it. tenacity trumps everything.
As far as my relationship with squinney goes, that book may or may not be finished, but I would have thought you'd have ascertained I don't want to talk about something so personal here.
