Are you talking about silver, gold, platinum, and palladium?

That is a form of investing. There are pros and cons. There is a risk involved and you have to decide that for yourself or go to a financial advisor. I choose to research it myself and do my own investing.

Not! Particularly not as an inexperienced investor. Metals have wild swings and are much too volatile for someone who doesn't know what they're doing in the markets. I do have a small (very small) portion of my portfolio in metals, but it's there as a hedge and isn't something that would affect my overall financial security if it tanked.
