With the current American perspective of George Bush and his policies in Iraq, is it still really fair to punish the Dixie Chicks based on that one "spur-of-the-moment" statement she made?
Is she still being punished?
It's my understanding that they are doing pretty well considering. I don't know if the country music radio station boycott has been lifted, but I've heard them on the radio on other stations, record sales have been pretty good, and they've received at least one CMA award that I can think of.
I t doesn't make any sense to me how they could have won all of the Grammy awards they did, and still (at least most) country radio stations will not play there music.
I think is just because the rest of the country - the ones that didn't follow country music - is listening to them just to see what else they have to say about the present government.
Or the rest of the country is listening to them because they are really good musicians. Not everyone who listens to country music is "country". A lot of people have a wide range of musical preferences. It seems to me that the Dixie Chicks appeal to a lot of people because they're very good. They are so good, in fact, that a boycott by country music stations and the efforts of some to silence them can't kill their music .
I listen to them because they are good.
Their following and audience goes beyond the little border of the U S of A.

I agree. But it helps that I also agree with what they said. Spur-of-the-moment or not.
