Help me design a monogram

Reply Fri 1 Aug, 2003 04:52 am
As part of an effort to further polish my metro(?)sexual (and some say a pompous ass) image, I have decided to get my latest batch of formal shirts (all 15 of them) monogrammed.

The monogram will be on the cuffs, and it will be discreetly placed just where the cufflink ends. Cool

Now, I cant really go for a plain GJ - too unimaginative. The monogram has to be eyecatching, for whoever eyes it catches

And considering that I am as useless as a female in a gay sauna  when it comes to "art", or using any programs which can generate artistic images, I am looking towards the talented members of this forum to design a mongram (my initials are GJ) for me. Idea

Are you upto the task ???

The winner will recieve an email from me promising them my eternal gratitude. Twisted Evil

I can't help you with the artwork (maybe Monger, king of photoshop), but what about going with just a beautiful 'G', and scrap the 'J'?

Hmmm....that does seem like an Idea. When I got my cufflinks made, I just went for a "G"....

But considering that I am widely known as "GJ" - I think I would like the monogram to have both my initials....

I've always been fonder of this look: G
J
as opposed to GJ or G
J

Actually, what I was trying was the J set slightly to the right of the G, as opposed to directly beneath it or next to it. Laughing Seems A2K does not like my typing. Good thing e.e. cummings isn't alive to try posting poetry here Twisted Evil

Cav, I know what you mean !! I sort of had the same kind in mind J to the right, and slightly below (abt halfway) to the G

Great minds think alike or what ?? Laughing

Yeah, I hope so too - the ones they showed me in the shop were either too plain or too tacky !

Here's a thought....browse fonts and think about what design you might like. I would think that fonts would translate well in a monogram.

Do you mean:

G
...J

(Without the elipses?)

(Spaces disappear unless they're between words.)

I think you really should be able to do something with the two round forms, then two short horizontal lines.

Yeah something like that soz, but only that the J should be a little high up and a different font I think...

Could not understand "i think u really......" Sad

I mean the round part of the G "facing" right, the round part of the J "facing" left, and then the little crosswise lines. They're really just two curves bisected by little lines, and something which pleases the eye should come from that rather easily.
