My favorite songs are not TV themes. But I wish they were. These three need to be at the top of the theme song list on the next round of Fall
series debuts (in order):
Joe Firstman (
http://www.joefirstman.com) Now You’re Gorgeous, Now You're Gone
Rufus Wainwright (
http://www.rufuswinwright.com) Cigarettes And Chocolate Milk
Black Eyed Peas (
www.blackeyedpeas.com) Where Is The Love?
i loved the gary shandling theme song. it was so silly!
I loved the "Mad About You" theme song. I forgot what it was, though.
listen to that Joe Firstman song and tell me - that should be a TV show theme, dont you think?
I got bad gateway errors on the first two links. If theme music could follow me around a la "I'm Gonna Get You Sucka" Curtis Mayfield's "If There's a Hell Below, We're All Gonna Go" would top my list.

Huh, that's weird. It worked fine for me when I clicked on it.
Weird indeed...seems to be working now
Check spelling on number two, I think there is an A missing in wainwright on the link. Still getting error messages there, but the first one works.
First one - couldn't find the music samples.
Second one - website is down.
Third one - I wouldn't invite those guys to play at your wedding.
I checked out Firstman at Amazon.com and all I can say is that he sounds an awful lot like a lot of other acts out there.
Mah na' Mah na', which actually was a theme for a movie nobody's ever seen called "Sweden, Heaven and Hell" would be a GREAT TV theme. This is a very compelling, funny song filled with nothing but nonsense syllables.
I got the Rufus site to work. He's not bad. One thing, no way any TV show is gonna be successful with the word "Cigarettes" in either the theme song or the title.
The theme from the A-Team always makes me feel like a plan has come together...
Oh man, love the A-Team....watch it in reruns, and with our digital cable, I can catch at least two episodes a day
The emotional rollercoater of H.R. Pufnstuf!
Once upon a summertime
Just a dream from yesterday
A boy and his magic golden flute
Heard a boat from off the bay
"Come and play with me, Jimmy
Come and play with me
And I will take you on a trip
Far across the sea"
But the boat belonged to a kooky old witch
Who had in mind the flute to snitch
From her Vroom Broom in the sky
She watched her plans materialize
She waved her wand
The beautiful boat was gone <--(A frightening image!)
The sky grew dark
The sea grew rough
The boat sailed on and on and on and on
But Pufnstuf was watching, too
And knew exactly what to do
He saw the witch's boat attack
And how the boy was fighting back
He called his Rescue Racer Crew <--(They were incompetant!)
As often they'd rehearsed
And off to save the boy they flew
But who would get there first?
But now the boy had washed ashore
Puf arrived to save the day
Which made the witch so mad and sore
She shook her fist and screamed away
H.R. Pufnstuf, who's your friend when things get rough?
H.R. Pufnstuf, can't do a little, 'cause you can't do enough
Ending Theme Lyrics: Whoa, I got, you got, everybody do got
Someone who cares by the name of
H.R. Pufnstuf, where'd you go when thing get rough?
H.R. Pufnstuf, well, you can't do a little 'cause you can't do enough
--Also think I could go through life followed by the Banana Splits Theme Song. (You know, those huge puppets...)
Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
a tale of a fateful trip.
That started from this tropic port,
aboard this tiny ship.
The mate was a mighty sailin' man,
the skipper brave and sure.
Five passengers set sail that day,
for a three hour tour, a three hour tour
The weather started getting rough,
the tiny ship was tossed.
If not for the courage of the fearless crew,
the Minnow would be lost; the Minnow would be lost.
The ship took ground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle,
with Gilligan, the Skipper too,
the Millionaire, and his Wife,
the Movie Star, the Professor and Mary Ann,
here on Gilligan's Isle.
And then, after our 30 minutes of fun with the Castaways was done, we would hear
.
So this is the tale of our castaways,
they're here for a long, long time.
They'll have to make the best of things,
it's an uphill climb.
The first mate and his skipper too,
will do their very best,
to make the others comfortable,
in the tropic island nest.
No phones, no lights, no motor cars,
not a single luxury.
Like Robinson Crusoe,
it's primitive as can be.
So join us here each week my friend,
you're sure to get a smile.
From seven stranded Castaways,
Here on Gilligan's Isle.
Hey now, hey now now...
Sing this corrosion to me..
Hey now, hey now now...
