The debate on banning Kratom still continues. Although the plant had been used by several natives in Asia for centuries, the growing production and consumers of Kratom in the United States are now at risk of being eliminated from DEA's (Drug Enforcement Administration) approved herbal medicines. According to the agency, the said herbal medicine has a high potential for drug abuse and does not qualify to have a medical use. Several scientists, on the other hand, had rallied and are pushing the Congress to reverse the agency's decision of banning the herb because it will affect most patients who are medically dependent on the drug and also can cripple most scientists' advances in their medical research. Kratom or Mitragyna Speciosa is a tropical evergreen tree that is commonly found in most parts of Southeast Asia, namely the Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and much other more. The natives had been using the plant for several years as an organic pain reliever for chronic to mild pains. Also, Kratom leaves are used to treat diarrhea, treatment for opiate addiction, energy and immune system booster, and many other more.

According to several institutions that produce Kratom products, with the right and proper dosage of Kratom, no one is at threat for drug dependency or other health risks, which is by far similar to other medicines. So, why banning of Kratom is a real bad news? Below are the top reasons why almost everyone is fighting to reverse the threat of Kratom being banned:

• Threat to veterans who are suffering chronic pain and PTSD

There is something about kratom that helps several veterans to live like they normally used to. Several veterans had been suffering from chronic pain and PTSD due to the lasting effects from injuries that had happened during military deployment. So, banning the Kratom can cripple not only the veterans but also people who are suffering the same pain and illnesses. Also, if you buy Kratom, you do not need to suffer the effects of high dosage opiates and much other more pain reliever. According to several studies, most pain relievers have a higher potential threat to human health than the Kratom products. So, why ban something that is more useful and safe?

• Threat to the recovery of former heroin addicts

Compared to opioids, Kratom products are more relaxing and calming. The former is more on to sedate than to treat people who are into recovery; the latter on the other hand has stimulating effects that boosts the patient’s energy then help them feel relaxed and calm.

• Threat to medical advances

It may sound that Kratom is a perfect drug that can cure everything, however, it needs further scientific assessment. So, banning the Kratom can cripple any medical and scientific advances on Kratom and what it can really do. Kratom is similar with other herbal medicines and industrial medicines, with the proper dosage and regulated intakes; no one will be at risk. So, have the confidence to improve productivity with Kratom and help people who really need the miracle of the herb by disseminating helpful information about the product.
