Born in Limassol, Cyprus on the 30th August 1979. My father is Swedish and my mother Greek Cypriot. I am an only child, mainly due to the pretty dire financial situation my family found themselves in at the time (them being refugees since the Turkish invasion in '74). After 4 years in that crappy, stinky industrial/harbour town, we moved to Larnaca which is a much more pleasant coastal town. Things started working out for the better, much due to the fact that the rest of my mothers family had resettled in Larnaca, and we finally moved in our own home when I was around 12 years of age.
I attended an American highschool, the American Academy (founded by missionaries in the early 20th century). Good student, but bummed through the last years without actually putting too much effort into my studies. Felt limited by the strict comprehensive nature of said school (we followed the GCE/GCSE curriculum) and educated myself by spending free time reading through my dads left/marxist litterature (both parents were politically active lefties!). Plus was distracted by that hormonal surge and spent way too much time chasing tourist girls in Ayia Napa, smoking weed and getting boozed up (remember kids, nobody gives a damn about drinking age limit in Cyprus).
Left Cyprus at age 18 to persue my studies in Sweden (free higher education....whoopee). The first year was spent bumming around...again. Got pierced and added a few tattoos to my collection. Did the standard backpacking gig (Oz, S.E Asia) and finally started with my biology studies. Along the way I found that sustainable developement issues and ecology clicked with my own interests in international politics and so I followed that path. That path has taken me too Africa, Phillippines and landed me a masters in systems ecology. Pretty cool, huh?
Music wise I'm an old school punk rocker. Although I've mellowed out the past couple of years, you will still see me dress in black, ripped jeans and D.Ms or converse all-stars and listening to some hard shit. Pierced and the proud owner of three lovely tattoos.
Hobbies? Drinking beer, travelling, hiking, drinking more beer and studying (its true)
