Benign prostatic hyperplasia, sometimes known as prostatic hypertrophy, is the condition that is commonly characterized by the inflammation of a man's prostate. The increase in size of the prostate causes many different effects to a man. It will make a man urinate more often than normal, feel pain and discomfort when urinating and with an increased risk for urinary tract infections.

There are different methods used in managing prostatic hypertrophy. It can range from simple lifestyle change to going under the knife. In between is the use of medications or even all-natural medical remedy to ease the discomforts. These all aim to improve the medical condition and to alleviate the discomforts that a patient struggles with.

A man who has prostatic hypertrophy, or is bordering middle age or older, are predisposed to the disorder. Preventive measures include changing lifestyle or switching towards healthier habits as one gets older. Taking cbd oil is also advised since several components in cannabidiol are known to relieve pain naturally. Obesity is another predisposing factor. Therefore, men who are aging and excessively fat or obese must consider losing weight through proper diet and increased physical activity. Those who have relatives who are afflicted with the same condition are likely to develop prostatic hypertrophy too. Similarly, alcohol and caffeine consumption should be avoided; or at the very least controlled. Some patients are also advised to follow a specific schedule of eliminating waste.

When the symptoms are mild, the patient is advised to adopt the so called "watchful waiting or active surveillance" as a treatment option. This is a case where the patient is closely monitored by a medical expert, but no active treatment is being administered yet. Instead, the doctor controls or manages the prostatic hypertrophy symptoms by modifying their medications and diet. Annual laboratory tests are conducted and the medications adjusted depending on the results.

Another management method that can be used is through medication. Some medications commonly used in managing prostatic hypertrophy are alpha blockers and 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors like Finasteride and dutasteride. Alpha blockers, typically used as hypertensive drugs, help the muscles of the excretory system to relax to completely empty the bladder. Finasteride and dutasteride are inhibitors that take longer to take effect, but which can gradually diminish the size of the prostate by suppressing the hormone that is responsible for the enlargement of the prostate. There are alternative medicines, too, like healthy Hemp Oil.

For those who do not fare well with medications, there are minimally invasive methods that can help them get better. Transurethral microwave thermotherapy and transurethral needle ablation are two procedures that generally aim to produce heat that will cause death of the cells in the prostate. When the cells die, they cannot regrow and the prostate shrinks.

Managing prostatic hypertrophy is actually effective if the treatment options are faithfully administered. Some who smoked cannabis or medical marijuana (in states where it is legalized, of course) say it's done a lot to relieve them of the pain caused by prostatic hypertrophy. Since this disorder is very common, men must start monitoring symptoms when they are predisposed to it.
