Quote:Hello,
Yes! i've finally found a pen pal. my friend, Adriana, emails people all the time, but i haven't. well i have, but i have never had a pen pal from America. I have a msn pal from Inverleigh, fifteen minutes away from where i live, and i arranged to meet him for coffee, but he didn't turn up. i couldn't believe it when he didn't come. Oh well, maybe next Friday, haha!
I must introduce myself. My name is Thomas and i'm from down under Australia. I'm a talented writer who has written an autobiography about living with a disability and i'm also working on a novel about aa loners' journey to save his uncle's alcohol addiction. it's full on. i'm dealing with a huge topic, but i'malmost finished. i did a plan in Maths yesterday and i can finally see the ending.
I would love to write to you. I got your email from a writing forum and i would love to hear from you when you have time!
Warmest regards,
Author Thomas Banks
His email addy correlates with is story - it's not some other party, or a business. I find this one intriguing.
He says he is a talented writer but his message is incoherent, rambling, filled with typos and he doesn't even apostrophise properly. Don't be fooled, it's a scam. The three things all scammers have in common are: they are from a foreign country, they can't write proper English, and they pretend like they want to be your friend first. You will be introduced to the scam part later after you are suckered in.
Quite possibly he'll need a bit of cash to get his autobiography published.
I'm with Stuh on this one. The guy writes like he dropped out of his Nigerian elementary school around the 5th grade.
A while back I received something similar from a guy claiming to be a writer in London. He wanted a pen pal to tell him about what it's like to live in the USA so he could finish a novel he was working on. I don't know what the scam was exactly, but as soon as I noticed he spelled poorly and used "your" instead of "you're" as in "your my only hope" I deleted the message.
I'm curious as to why you find this email interest littlek. Maybe I'm missing something?
do you know an Adriana or are you involved in a writing forum or something?
I guess I'm dense, but this email you received doesn't make any sense to me.
Thomas Banks is a real person in Australia, suffering from cerebral palsy >

My family and I were so wrapped with the donation and there were also a lovely article written up about the donation.[..........] I almost have the amount that's needed to publishing my autobiography.
