I hate my postlady right now

Since we moved from MILs house , I truly miss my old post woman. And we are only but a few feet away from the end of her route. Confused

The one we have now has destroyed almost 200.00 worth of pictures .

I get them in envelopes that CLEARLY STATE ' do not bend'

The place I get them from has kindly started repacking my photos with small pieces of cardboard to help these pictures survive.

Yet, this post lady continuesly forces these pictures into a tiny mail box . Usually bending the cardboard in HALF to MAKE it fit.

We are in an apt building.
The post boxes have the larger ones to the side so that if something doesnt fit, the postman can place it in a bigger box and leave the key to it in your box.

Does she do that? Uhh.. no.

From our mail box, our building is ... I dunno... 70 feet? About twice the length of a regular drive way.
She could, if she wasnt running really late, trot over and place it on my door step.

She could also leave a note, and let me pick ip up from the post office.

All of which I wouldnt mind doing.

but she doesnt.

She continues to cram , bust down, and roll up these packages to where I have pictures that are destroyed.
I am having to reorder due to her and it is costing ME money.

Is there anything I can do?

Leave a note asking that she be more careful and please put any picture parcels in the larger box.

If that doesn't work, call the p.o. and report her.

I'd assume that she's required to respect the mail. It's YOUR property and she's defacing it. It's a federal offense to take someone elses mail...why wouldn't it be illegal to destroy someone elses mail?

Don't call the post office. Drop in mid-morning or mid-afternoon when they aren't busy and ask to talk to the Postmaster.

Bring along samples of the envelopes and the packing and ask him what can be done to avoid damage to future shipments.

Don't be confrontational--assume that after your meeting the problem will be solved.

The solution might involve renting a P.O. Box if the Postmaster doesn't feel mail in the community box would be safe.

Good luck.

Call your postmaster and complain. And a secondary action - have the people that send you pics send them insured. If she contiunues to bend them, start filing claims. Afetr a few weeks of you filing claims they'll start to figure out where the problem is in a hurry.

well, before you report her, you may just want to talk to her. if you don't know when she's around, you can always leave a post-it note on your mailbox.
sure, she's breaking the rules, but she is most likely not destroying your mail on purpose. i tend to give people benefit of the doubt. be polite and assertive. she'll probably respond. if not, then you can report her.

I dot 'hate her' as a person. I just hate that her actions are costing me so much money.
Ultimatly, some of it being passed on to my customers. They have been understanding so far, as I have shown them what has happened, but I have saved the last shipment , ( unopened) to show the post office.

I am going up there tomorrow, and no, I wont be rude. But I would be lying if I said I wasnt upset.
When I dont get paid, I cant pay my bills. I am a daily work, daily pay person. When my daily pay stops, my bills are behind.
What she has done has set me behind.

But, I agree, Im sure she isnt doing it deliberatly. She wants to make sure i -get my mail- and probally has no idea what her actions are doing.

I will also leave her a note and just say something easy . Let her know that I get photo orders all the time and I have no problems with going to the post office to pick them up. She can just leave me a note telling me they have arrived.

If, after I have done that, AND gone to the post office things are not resolved, then I will meet her one afternoon.

Im not sure yet what time she arrives... Im thinking about 2 or so.. but I can watch for that too.

its just....... RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
frustrating.

you can leave her a running bill

Dear postperson,
so far you have cost me:

$45 on 02/24
$67 on 03/03
$13 on 03/17

We'll be thinking of you when we eat our dinner by candlelight. We'll pray to the mighty Lord our savior that a common sense cometh to you in your sleep and that you will finally stop bending what is not to be bent. God bless you.

Dear Mail Carrier;

The next time you use my pictures for origami, I'm gonna stuff the resultant art up your crack.

My sister, Mime, says to have the send write "Treat this as a parcel, Do Not Bend" (meaning, they'll send you a pick up card, and to go to the post office and tell them the same thing. If you show some samples of the beat up mailings, that might help. Alternatively, have them send the package with "Signature Required" so they'll keep it at the post office.

Mime works at a post office.

the only real examples I have, I wont open until I get to the post office because I want to show them the damage.
I want to, also show HER what happens.

She might truly not know..

but let me get the package. I will post a picture. No problem.

this is how it is now

And this is how it was stuffed into the box.
I think it was actually folded over a bit more then that, as I truly have a little box, but this is what it takes to get it in there.
Mind you, there is a thick piece of cardboard inside.
When you bend it, it pops...

Hate to say it, shewolf, but I'm betting this is malicious. I can't even guess what imagined slight she's reacting to, but these people can be kind of weird, if you get my drift. You've heard the expression "going postal", of course. Deal with the postmaster as nicely as possible, or just follow Mame's suggestions. I don't suggest you confront her.

I have only seen her one time.

She came to my door to deliver a small box.
Seemed nice enough, but it truly seemed as though she could not get up and down the stairs.

Im telling you... this is a big woman. 350lbs? Maybe more?

She might just not be able to, or willing to , make the treck up the stairs.

This has all come around in karma to punish me. I was one of those people who used to specifiy mailboxes, those vile combo groups. A few decades later I am dealing with this piece of shjt. I didn't know what I was doing at the time, having one of those biggie rural free delivery boxes atop one of my california bungalow columns where Eartha jambed the stuff in the large recepticle if we didn't answer, and otherwise passed the time of day. And then, Saleh, who I still wonder how he is.

On one of my visits back to LA, I had to mail something at the Marina PO for our northern design business, and was filling out a form at the wee counter at the end of the room and I hear (I've told this before on a2k but I still like it) STOP THAT WOMAN from back of the counter. It was Eartha, hugs all around.

I suppose now we'd both be shot.

Here in ABQ at the central post office, people were really wonderful to me, keeping my f/n boxes for months til I picked them up, with the head guy helping Diane and I get them in the back of Dys's truck, insisting he lift them himself. I promised them some candy... if and when I get to that wonderful place for candy in Santa Fe again, I'll put an order in for that whole post office. Never mind that, these were prototype good post office people, much as I've run across in Venice and Eureka and now here. Trouble is, I gather post offices, including mine, delegate tasks to other purveyors. And, you bet your bippie, the cheapest.

Point is, Shewolf, argue and spit and cajole them. Put the elements of that in writing and move it up the line.

I wouldn't confront her either. If she's pissed off enough, she can delay
your mail, deliver it wrongly, and what not.

It is written in big letters on the envelope "do not bend" and she does
it anyway, so giving her the benefit of the doubt is out. She is looking
for an easy way to deliver all mail, period.

My advice: don't bother, get a P.O.Box large enough to hold your
pictures. It's a business expense anyways and deductible.

Wow. That is bad.

Maybe you can have a bigger sticker put on it too....is there a chance that she just didn't see the sticker that said Photos?
