For anyone who gets a chance to travel to Asia, think about Sri Lanka. Its an amazing county which has been able to maintain its beauty over the years.
I recently traveled here for a friends wedding and I found it one of the most amazing places. You can go from 21st Century to 18th century in the blink of an eye.
Of course as always, you can stay at the nice hotels and have a very westernized vacation, but I wouldn't suggest it. Try to stay in guest houses and travel with locals. Join one of the many tours that take you around this small county and you'll have an amazing time.
Make sure to visit the Tea Plantations, any of the most beautiful buddhist temples, hundreds of waterfalls, the celebrations in the town of "Kandy". and the many ruins that still exist.
Also, if you get time make sure to head down south and check out the Tsunami efforts still ongoing.
lasanai, I've always held some interest in Sri Lanka, but a flight there can cost an arm and a leg from California. I personally don't know of any friends or acquaintance who has visited there, but I have read up a little bit about the country. A few cruises do a port stop there, but not many.
If you have pictures, how about posting them here?
i have been there and i took this picture
have you been there.
i have more pictures of Sri Lanka's landscapes, i wanted to show you but they are too bulky so you'll have to wait because i'll make the use of
image hosting. i hope you'll see the pictures.
bye
