Is the site undergoing a denial of service attack?

I'd be happy to offer consultation on firewall configuration, or other mitigation methods.

Is there any relief at all in sight?

I opened a sales ticket with the hosting company on the 20th of January and it went unanswered till the 30th (they just went through a merger that seems to have brought the side effect of drastically diminished support service) so no RAM has been added yet (I predict that it will be within the next 7 days but it is not something I control and depends in large part on their turnaround time).

A Cisco ASA device with TCP-intercept would mitigate the effects of a SYN-flood attack.

What really frustrates me, is when A2K is running speedily, so I think that the added RAM has kicked in, and the problem has been solved. And then..........................................

A2K is running like hell's bells now. Do you think that the RAM has kicked in?

Until I find it running well for 72 hours, I shall assume that any improvement is temporary.

Well, it was doing fine for the first 30 minutes that I was on A2K, but no more- a bit short of 72 hours I fear.

I'm starting to get so used to it, I almost wish it would stay like this. Keeps out the riff raff.
