I NEVER buy Lebkuchen before December!
I'd be sooo fed up by christmas if I started eating them now.
However, I HATE last-minute christmas shopping.
I used to do it, too, but then you are so desperate to find stuff, that you're happy with anything, which in my eyes is not the point of a christmas present.
I really love christmas, but I refuse to see it as a commercial necessity.
If I cannot think of something that a person might be happy about, I simply don't buy anything for that person and only get them a nice card.
And the socks I have to make that early, otherwise they might not get ready.
I am always quick with the first one, the second one usually takes at least five times as long.
And I need another pair for my brother-in-law.
He loves REAL German things, so he gets a pair in black, red, and gold!
