Bush, in a speech yesterday, said that the United States was engaged in a "struggle for civilization" and that "The safety of America depends on the outcome of the battle in the streets of Baghdad"
Is he that stupid that he doesn't realize that we are engaged in this struggle, not because of the New York bombings but rather because of his idiocy and the incompetence of his administration.
Am I the only one that sees this?
I feel so alone.
Talk it, Sister Suzy, talk it.
Edgar's avatar prompts the following from Pogo
We have seen the enemy, and he is us...
Put your head on my shoulder Gus... you are on the bus.....

That quote has been so worked to death. Pogo is way more than a single sentence.
When Bush was first proclaimed president, I vowed to be a loyal opposition, since I knew nothing would keep him from serving. It didn't take long before I had to drop the "loyal" part. Even my brother, who is a lifelong Republican and supporter of conservative leaders, derides idiot Bush at every turn.
Whether we like Bush or find him incompetent, the important thing is that we never, ever forget the attacks of September 12th.

Someone will come along and want a link for that..
This thread may be the first of its kind anywhere.
It should be bronzed, along with gus's testicles.
Resolve, then, that on this very ground, with small flags waving and tiny blasts of tiny trumpets, we shall meet the enemy, and not only may he be ours, he may be us.'
As years passed, the final paragraph was reduced to "We have met the enemy and he is us," in a few strips having to do with pollution. The nine words form the title and theme of a Pogo motion picture currently in work, believing as I do that we are all of us responsible for our myriad pollutions, public, private and political."

Thanks for that, Joe. It puts it all in a proper context.
Joe is always there when you really need him.
I love that man like a brother.
Please don't get maudlin on us, gus. I can't stand to see tears rolling down a grown man's cheeks.
I'm sorry. I...I...I think I'm ok now.

If you knew how gus loved his brother, you wouldn't say that.
My brother and I has this idea where we would pick the day Bush said the most incredibly dumb thing and we would make up greeting cards to be sent to commenorate that day.
It would be called "AreUFriggingKiddingMe? Day.
So far, for this year, we have cards for
Jan 1
Jan 3 and 4 5
Jan 12 13 15 18 19 20 21

Any date in February.
or March
April 1 (Natch)
the 4,5,7,8,10,11,13, 15 22,24,25 and 29th.
We were too depressed in May and June to even think about this.
July 4 (I was hoping he's just shut up for that one day, but no...)
then there was this long period where he didn't say anything, when he was on vacation, I guess.
Anyway, let us know.
