Hello everyone:

I'm interested in doing some study in mainland China, in the area of Chinese law, whether general or specialised. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding which Chinese universities have law faculties or offer good law programmes? Information or providing that universities website would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Pragmatic.

Pragmatic,

I haven't seen you post in a long time. My wife was born in Shanghai and studied medicine in Beijing. I will ask her if any of her friends studied law.

Hey wandeljw,

Greetings! Yes I have been very quiet lately - just not much to talk about these days.

I would appreciate you and your wife's help. Thank you very much!

Pragmatic,

My wife attended Beijing University in the 1980's. She remembers that the university had an institute for the study of Chinese law.

My wife told me that education in China has changed since the 1980's. She believes there probably are private law schools for the study of Chinese law that are not connected to any university.

Raymond - thank you for your search and all that information. Appreciate it!

wandeljw - thank you for your tip about private law schools. although there are such things, I think that internationally speaking, universities are probably more recognised and therefore realistically speaking, it would be better to do my course through a recognised university. However, a private law school is something I will consider as well. Many thanks to your and your wife.
