Absolutly.

This little business got busy and quickly.
Faster then I expected, and generates more then I thought it would.

My very first client, I file taxes with.. I just have not gotten my own tax number?
what ever that means..

I got a second client. .. and had to let her go.. she was.. well..
just too much

Did NOT file taxes with her..

second and third, are both waiting to get to the edge with the amounts they pay.. something like 1800 in a year before I become a tax break for them.

any who

Pile on .. sheesh... 7? more people? in the span of a few weeks and now I am smothered and dont quite know where to go..

er.

Stop packing for one hour and find out. Mucho importante.

Two phone calls to have them send you the forms or find them on the net and print them out.

Make sure you do this before this quarter passes.

Two important rules of business.

Pay your taxes,..... on time every time.

claim every legitimate work related deduction possible.
Travel, phone, home office space (a portion of your rent).

Your internet bills should be tax deductible.

Better I dont comment any further in case your tax rules are different to ours.

Getting swamped by too much work? Charge more for those clients who come later. But make sure you can justify it.

shewolf, you run a business. Other people hire you to perform a service. They are not hiring you as an employee, unless they want to pay Social Security taxes on you. They do not get to claim you as a deduction (unless you are providing your services to another business and then they claim you as a business expense).

As a business woman you need to get a tax id and register your business (does it have a name?) with both the IRS and your state board. It's very simple, but must be done. All of your business expenses are tax deductible regardless of whether someone else is writing off your service.

Maybe you could start a topic on the Business & Marketing or perhaps Finance board to get some advice from others who might not catch this thread.
