I love the view from the window beside my computer where I can see every car or person that walks down the main street of my small town - average about 5 cars and 5 pedestrians per hour, a couple of dogs, and an occassional horse or stray sheep or goat.

August 9, 2003 in New Paltz

Quote:
Our 2003 street festival will once again offer period music and entertainmnet, reenactors, traditional crafts, children's activities and more! Several new 18th century attractions are expected to delight visitors this year, including coopers (who make buckets and barrels); a willow weaver; a "whitesmith" (or "bladesmith"); a magician with his two "sidekicks," Harry Ames and Mr. Bailey, and a slackrope walker, "Signora Bella," whose feats of balance and juggling hold audiences in awe. George Washington himself was entertained by slackrope walking. African-American themes, such as Carolyn Evans' dramatization of Harriet Tubman's life in slavery and the underground railroad, portray the diverse culture of historic Huguenot Street. The time of the event will be 10:00 - 5:00. Call 845-255-1660 for more information.

and now on to one of my favourite views in the world (other than my smiling dogs)

You're welcome, Misti. I wish it had come out bigger. It is the view of the bay in Puget Sound where I grew up. 'course it is an oil painting, not a photograph.

Misti - The picture that you posted was gorgeous. Is that in Florida? I don't remember ever seeing rock cliffs like that.

Piffka, no I'm sure that isn't Florida, at least not one I've ever seen. It's more like a beach up north, or California.

I just love beach scenes like that, especially scenes like you would see at Big Sur, in California........too bad the water is too cold to swim in.

Today I would love to see the Grand Mesa, on the Western Slope of Colorado. Maybe even the Colorado National Monument.
