A present from the lady Diane

I just got a present from the lady Diane. It's wrapped in gauze cotton stuff and is about 5 inches tall. It is a hand carved from bone figure from the Zuni Res about Dia De Muerto (day of the dead) It is a skeleton of a zuni indian with full headress. Baby, I am amazed. What an incredible and intricate work of art. I may take a pict if I can and post it here.

Well that's very nice. I would like to have a wooden Indian like Tecumseh in Cheers.

I think you've just confirmed what we all suspected: Diane is perfect.

If I didn't love her, I'd just hate her.

Ok not such a good pic as my camera does not do macro very well. Anyway here it is, about 4 1/4 inches tall, one carved solid piece of bone, the arms and legs are like thread. The Zuni artist is Esteban Najera.

Small and unexpected gifts are the best kind. I appreciate the workmanship, dys, but the intricacy only makes it more eerie. <shiver>

Indeed, I was overwhelmed when I unwrapped the gauze and was afraid to touch it because it is so delicate. I have always been very partial to Zuni art which is why I had a bolo tie made for my dear friend Walter from a Zuni fetish.
