Not sure where to post.
Can anyone provide any helpful insight to my dilemma?
I am not sure whether to continue working or attend college full time.

I make a barely livable income; as does my spouse, on a no complaints low stress job, we pay the bills.

After long deployments we left the full time military 2 years ago to raise our new babies.

Now, I am extremely bored and want more. I am seriously considering college. But I really don't know how?

Can I get aid/ loan to make the minimum bills while I attend? Will Finaid only look at the past years income and determine we don't need aid even though I will quit work to study?

Does anyone have any useful opinions/insight/info to offer?

Hi.

Yep, they do look at last year's income, BUT, you can appeal that with a simple letter, and get the money you need.

The college I went to did provide some money to live on as well, and you qualify for more in your Junior and Senior year.

The paper work was easy.

Where I went you are allowed up to four appeals if you are denied for any reason. So, if at any time you are denied for any reason, all you have to do is write a letter and take it in and then you will be approved.

I wish I had known that YEARS ago when I was denied for the same reason you just stated.

Could've saved myself a lot of years and could've been bringing home better paychecks decades ago.

Be tenacious!

I'm curious, do you know what you will study?

Thanks for the reply. Gives me a little more hope.. I am unsure about what to study. Foregoing any sensible field or my professional background. I am very interested in the law. But I do not know, really.

Isn't there aid through the military?!?!?!? I thought that was one of the big benefits of enlisting.

And there's a huge variety of assistance programs available.

Scholarships, grants, loans, etc. The financial aid office at your school should be able to assist, especially if it is a smaller school.

Yes, I have money for tuition and books with my GI Bill and I am a reserve Officer so I can receive army tution assistance up to 4500 per year.
I only need to cover the bills mortgage, daycare, elec, etc. At least what my hubby can't pay from his job. Can I still get a loan if they see I have Tuition assistance?
