USPS food drive - tomorrow May 13

Don't forget that tomorrow is the food drive. Just put your non-perishable donation in a bag near your mailbox and the letter carrier picks it up.

Easy as pie!

Got my brown bag yesterday, and it is patiently waiting for some goodies.

Thanks for the reminder.

I love that they do this at a time of year when the food banks aren't already overflowing from holiday donations.

They're not doing it in my town! Maybe because our carriers are on foot....?

I love it that they do it this time of year because it really fills up the food banks before summer. A lot of kids go hungry in the summer because they rely on at least on meal a day being provided at school. In many cases they get both breakfast and lunch at school and that is all they get to eat all day.

Last year my city collected over a million pounds of food.

Yeah squinney!

Maybe Canada could use the idea too, eBeth!

WHAT! Boston doesn't participate? That's crazy. I guess I can understand if they are on foot but it seems like they could send a truck around just for the pick up.

wow, thanks for the reminder, I've got the postcard sitting right here, but you know how you become blind to something after a couple of days.

there, I've propped it up against a candle, that'll help.

How'd you find out about Cambridge, littlek?

I haven't heard/ seen anything about it here, looked online but didn't find anything more specific than this, yet (and it says "nationwide...")

Wow! That is really interesting, soz. Thanks for that link. I'm really surprised to see so many of Oregon's fairly large cities not represented. What's up with that?

I nearly forgot this year even though I received a post card and a bag in the mail. I told Mo this morning that "we have to go to the grocery store today" but then blew it off and went to the park. I went in to cook dinner and saw the bag.

So we got the grocery shopping done today after all.

The food drive is always held the Saturday before Mother's Day so you would think it would be easy to remember.
