I don't think they need to be 'saved'

It is no secret that Iran and Iraq used to have wonderful buildings and facilities. Heck, Iraq has a very good seed bank, which had to have its entire contents shipped outside its borders when the US Forces arrived to attack Saddam's Regime.

There is no secret that there are those in oppressive Third World regimes that enjoy their lives as if they were rich.

The problem lies in the theocracy which stifles the scientific and social progress of the nation. The theocracy has to go.

A US-led invasion, however, well... No, I don't think that would be the best option. You would end up ruining so much that the Iranians made for themselves with their own two hands.

Wolf, not to mention we overthrew a Democratically elected government in Iran in the 50s and sicced opressive regimes on both the Iranians and Iraqis. I always thought selling Saddam WMD after he used WMD was insane. But then American foreign policy has long been insane. Big change is possible imo but not without some serious fessing up by the USA and Israel.
