I now think this is a code - the game is to throw you off the course. After much research, I found a website of carp cirlces. Here is a picture of the bigwigs. I think edgar is on the left. If we can figure out who is on the right, we'll be well on our way to deciphering the message.

How eerie. On further investigation, these folks seem to have ties to friends of mine and to friends of Dasha's. Has fate conspired to have dasha and Ilive together twice? Is there a reason why we should have this common link? Who are these people and what do they want of us?
