China will not rise peacefully. Now, China focus on her local affair, such as promoting econimic, improving people standard of living.
In a fact, the people in the country is very poor.
The power of army is to maitain the peace of Arial.
China will not rise the world. She will share her large local market with others countries. Many coutries will benefit from the improvement of chinese economic.

The big problem is the Taiwan.
The Mainland will take back it in the futur.

That sounds peaceful to the point of being restful, heweal. Unless Taiwan objects, of course.

I find the question quixotic, although i intend no insult to the author. China already rises peacefully. Taiwan qualifies as a family squabble, and for all the conservative sabre-rattling which might ever arise, i doubt that it will ever be the cause of war with the United States.

Right now, it won't take to many more stupid foreign wars for our indebtedness to China to reach the point at which they effectively own our economy.

Please refer to my earlier remarks, as my response here.

I do not agree with Setanta's conclusion suggesting that China will so dominate the future as to "own" the U.S. economy. China's population is both its strongest asset and the greatest risk to its future. The problems China faces pose a much more serious risk to it's continued stability than the costs of America's commitment to the continuing War on Terrorism. If the restrictions to U.S. imports were to be lifted, the balance of trade would, I'm sure, rapidly be reversed. On the other hand, I can understand China''s protectionist stance as a control measure during this time of high-risk transition. Eventually if China wants to fully join the world's economic community, it must open its doors and crack down on patent and copyright infringements.

China is a potenitally major player in the world's political and economic structure. The reverse is also true, it is potentially at a risky point in its effort to join the rest of the world. If it fails to resolve peacefully any of the several major problems confronting it, China could precipitate a major international conflict in Eastern Asia.

In short, yes and why not?

The Taiwan question, have no illusions this is not a paper tiger.

Copyright issues, yes, and as bill gates himself has said, in markets unable to support the price of the software they will push their product like drugs, getting people hooked and collect later which is what they are doing.

Internal politics, I would be interested to hear more,

of course not
the surrounding of china make it difficult to rise peacefully.Because

some countries don't want china to become very strong. They will use all

kinds of ways to prevent the improvement of china .meanwhile,Taiwan

is also another question.
