Somebody on this forum had a fab idea of keeping a life book, ie writing down significant events in your life so when you pass on relatives can read it and kind of keep you immortal for future generations.
Was it you?
2 down, a couple of hundred to go.
Phoenix, I dont picture you old enough to have grandchildren!!
Id like to develop this idea, as im getting more nostalgic in my old age and there is a big craze in teh UK about looking up family history(like im doing at the moment)So I just wanted to know if I was stealing someones idea.
Yes coz Im assuming your american which means the legal drinking age is older (21)than it is over here(18)!!
So if I did my own version of this type of book would I be stealing another persons idea and get in trouble.
What kind of things do you put in it?
I never know how detailed to get, do I put in just the loves of my life, do I really want people knowing taht kind of stuff about me.Or shall i just do things like ualifications and jobs?
I take it the phenomena of scrap booking has not traveled across the pond. Here in America it is all the rage to buy very expensive blank books, fancy papers and little dohickeys and create a family scrap book. Depending on how they are done they can be beautiful and artistic or the most dreaded part of a visit to a friend.
I know someone that has created about 20 of these books to tell the story of her entire family, literally from birth to death in some cases. She starts with copies of papers from a church in Italy that shows when her great, great grandparents got married, she's included news articles about the destruction of the World Trade Center where her nephew worked (he survived) and her most recent entry is the birth of her first grandchild. All these papers and artifacts (she has included hair clippings, graduation tassels, first drivers licenses etc) are crammed artistically into these archival books. I am sure some future generation will enjoy it all.
You could do a search in Google using the term "scrap booking" - I know there are tons of websites.
Greenwitch-Wow sounds like the person you know is doing it thoroughly.Good way to do it.
Nope, scrapbooking hasnt reached here, tho people are getting into crafts as a way to document life events, like a birthday card with a photo on it but not in the big way it is in America.
I discovered it whilst surfing the net in one of my bored moments at work(most of the day)I have since spent a fortune on craft supplies and Im addicted.
We have a big craft shop in a big town nearby which has been there for a few years but last year a smaller craft shop opened in my local smaller town which is good to see.
I have to admit, the best products come from the USA, I wish we had the things you guys have, its gona cost a fortune to get things shipped form there which puts me off.
