Today I turn 27 years old. And so yesterday I bought myself a pair of cowboy boots, my first ever, as a gift.
The smell of treated leather gives me a massive hard on. I think I'm going to get into a fight, and then, without washing my bloody hands first, I will enjoy a bacon double-cheeseburger.
A question to experienced boot wearers--how long does it take to break them in? See, I'm not sure if these babies fit right. I got them in my normal shoe size, but they seem big. I know the heel is supposed to slip for a while, but how much should it slip? I get nervous whenever I spend more than 100 bucks on something.
And to those who may think I'm becoming a redneck--I also bought, for myself, Slick Rick's "Art of Storytelling." Which means I'm still a gangsta.
Word.
actually.. i cant laugh at you
i own boots as well
it takes about a week of regular wear before you notice a better fit.
The heel should NOT slip to the point where you are loosing your balance.
If this is happening, they are too big.
Or , you can do the hobo thing and put some tape on the bottom.. or.. next time you are walking over concrete.. scuff the heel as hard as you can a few times and that makes traction.
( happy bir-f-day by the way ;-) )
If they are good boots, it will take a year of steady wearing to break them in.
Happy Birthday.
Evidently the first step in breaking in a boot is the original fit:

These people seem to understand boots.
Now DYS would know!
Happy birthday.
dys doesnt wear boots
what would he know...
;-)
Yeah, Dys always struck me as more of a Birkenstock kind of guy.
Thanks, Chai! And yes, that is what I look like--in my mind.
yes
happy birfday cuppycake gumdrop schnookums
There was a guy I went to college with who claimed his feet hurt in
anything BUT cowboy boots.
Ahem, this cuppycake business hardly suits my new image.
Call me Tex, please.
That guy wouldn't know a bull from a steer.
THAT'S COWBOY TROY!!!
WOULD TOO!
happy damn birthday, cowboy!
Happy birthday, gargamel! Ahem, Tex!!!!
I got a pair of boots in Denver. Diane was helping me picking them out. They are perfect and fit almost right from the start. Not one year, Dys!
I love cowboy boots!
Yeah, looks like I'll have to make an exchange. Those bastards better accept. I don't got another 150 dollars.
Hope they don't care I've worn 'em for a day.
Those bastards.

No, but I plan to. Why? Is that bad?
