I'm going to celebrate with a cigar and a full body massage. How about you? Very Happy

Why do some people have this as a holiday, and others dont?

We have a "floating" holiday instead.
Defeats the whole purpose if you ask me.
On the plus side, it was an easy commute this morning.

Like most government holidays, it is a holiday for themselves. Without the government, banks cannot run, thus Wall Street cannot function, so it shuts down monetary commerce for a day. All us other sluggos have to go to work.

I remember as a kid getting both Washington's birthday AND Lincoln's birthday off as holidays. Then, somewhere along the line they combined them to make it just President's Day.

In my youngest son's school district, they don't even have a President's Day at all, but have opted instead for the MLK holiday in January. My son got today off anyway. Ended up as a "snow" day and the schools were closed.

I could have used the day to myself. With a cigar and a massage! Very Happy

My son's school (private) doesn't let out for MLK Day, Presidents' Day OR snow days. No matter how bad the roads are. The good news is...his last day of school will be May 18 which means 14 weeks of summer!
