heh, heh, Margo, Flatted5th either plays clarinet, sax, oboe, bassoon or whatever comes with a reed attached.

F5th, I play very little piano, mostly by ear. I was a vocalist with a four piece group for many years, but only as an avocation. Made more money on a New Year's Eve gig than I did in an eight hour day job. Very Happy

Margo, I used to be a sax player, but now adays I play more with my cat
than I do my sax hence the noodler tag. Not that my cat doesn't mind.

Letty, it's great when it all comes together and you can make money doing what you love Smile

By the way - what are the lyrics to Midnight Sun? Cool

Playing with your cat is a perfectly valid and sensible occupatiion - at least that's what the boss said! Smile

I get punished if I don't play! Confused

Your lips were like a red and ruby chalice, warmer than the summer night
The clouds were like an alabaster palace rising to a snowy height.
Each star it's own aurora borealis, suddenly you held me tight,
I could see the Midnight Sun.

I can't explain the silver rain that found me--or was that a moonlight veil?
The music of the universe around me, or was that a nightingale?
And then your arms miraculously found me,suddenly the sky turned pale,
I could see the Midnight Sun.

Was there such a night, it's a thrill I still don't quite believe,
But after you were gone, there was still some stardust on my sleeve.

The flame of it may dwindle to an ember, and the stars forget to shine,
And we may see the meadow in December, icy white and crystalline.
But oh my darling always I'll remember when your lips were close to mine,
And we saw the Midnight Sun.

Diana Krall has done it, but the original lyrics were by Johnny Mercer and it's been done by a lot of Jazzists.

Margo, You made any kitten britches yet? Very Happy

Huh. I thought somebody was "blinded by the midnight sun" or something...

No, really, I've got this idea of a song in my head about somebody being blinded by the sun at noon (midnight for a good jazzbo), and I know that it's not my own...

Not to the point where I'd want anyone to have to hear me...

Really, I'm pretty sure these lyrics are out there, possibly to the same melody. I've a vague memory of seeing them (rather than hearing them) in the World's Greatest Fakebook or some such compendium.

Ah, well. The book is long since in tatters, and I can't afford to replace.

patio, I know fake books, so you must know how to read chords. Hmmm. I simply can't think at the moment. Will do some searching, though.
